trouble losing weight. any suggestions?

I had a baby a little over a year ago and when I gave birth I weighed over 200 pounds due to preclampsia and toxemia. Now I am trying to get back to the 135 I weighed when I got pregnant. I weigh about 150 now and wear a size 8. I start losing weight and then the weight loss stops. I have a dinner planned in 3 weeks and would like to be thin for it. I recently moved, and my eating lifestyle took a turn for the worst. I am 5'3 and feel like I look like a cow, espcially when I see other women with babies and they look great. Before I got pregnant I was a recovering anorexic so my family thinks I look fine, but I want to be thin again. I need some suggestions on how to lose like 20 pounds, fast. Please help!!

Okay, forget about that "thin for dinner in 3 weeks" thing. The safe way to lose weight is to lose 1-2 pounds a week.

Quite frankly, I’d rather have you be a happy, healthy 150 than to be an anorexic 135 pound person. Being happy and healthy (and slightly mischevious, sexually demanding and creative in bed) are very attractive, much more so than you’d have if you were sick and 15 pounds lighter.

Finally, if you’re a size 8 at 150, that means that you might have a higher level of muscle than you did at 135. Fat is fluffy and one pound takes up a lot of space, while muscle is dense and a pound takes up a lot less space. What you want to look for is losing inches and body fat, which may not translate into losing pounds.

In fact, I’ll say that your previous weight cut into your body muscle, which is definitely unhealthy. You probably have a lot more muscle now, and that is very healthy… and very sexy.
